WEC 47 Full Results

WEC 47 is now in the books and the bantamweight championship has changed hands yet again. Lots of interesting things went down tonight.

Jens Pulver lost for a fifth straight time and pretty much confirmed his retirement, although he did not FULLY commit to hanging it up forever. Consider Jens the Brett Favre of MMA.

Miguel Torres hasn’t gotten back on the horse just yet as Joseph Benavidez made short work of Torres with a guillotine choke. I thought Torres was the number one pound for pound fighter in the world? Well… so much for that notion.

Dominick Cruz juked and jived his way to a bantamweight championship. The fight had to be stopped after two rounds as a result of Brian Bowles suffering from a broken hand. Apparently, Bowles broke his hand early in the first round and could no longer continue after going two full rounds. Tough luck or an easy way out? A lot of us were left scratching our heads wondering what happened when the fight was stopped. During the post fight interview Bowles stated that he “thought” his hand was broken. Well Mr. Bowles, is it broken or not? Nevertheless, he couldn’t continue and will have to work his way back up the ladder. We haven’t seen the last of Mr. Bowles. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.
