Jose Aldo vs. Urijah Faber Headlines First Ever WEC Pay Per View

Well, many expected WEC would be arriving on pay per view sooner rather than later, and they were right. WEC General Manager Reed Harris has speculated for quite some time that the WEC will indeed break into the PPV market, and it looks as if they will be relying on their hometown hero, Urijah Faber.

WEC 48 is set to take place on April 24th from the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California, and will be headlined by a featherweight title bout. Current WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is set to take on the “California Kid” Urijah Faber. The PPV will retail at $44.99, the same as a UFC event.

Also on the card, lightweight contender Donald Cerrone gets yet another title shot when he takes on current champion Ben “Smooth” Henderson. The two have met before in what was a candidate for 2009’s “fight of the year”, just a few short months ago at WEC 43. Henderson was able to eek out a decision against “Cowboy”, but many feel that Cerrone deserved the nod.

The only other confirmed bout features former WEC featherweight champion Mike Thomas Brown taking on top contender Manny “The Anvil” Gamburyan. Brown lost his title to Aldo at WEC 44, but rebounded with a dominant victory at WEC 46 when he choked out Anthony Morrison.

actually not a bad card at all. lets see how the card fills out, but i think it’ll end up being a really good card.
