Gegard Mousasi Critical on Performance Against Sokoudjou

Gegard Mousasi isn’t one to show excitement, but he was noticeably disappointed following his fight against Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Mousasi dominated Sokoudjou in the second round of their bout to force a referee stoppage, but not before Sokoudjou pushed the pace throughout the entire first round. Coming into the fight, Mousasi was the overwhelming favorite, and many expected him to easily run through his opponent in the first round. Following the fight, Ariel Helwani of MMA Fanhouse caught up with Mousasi who was very critical of his performance.

I did some mistakes, but [Sokoudjou] is a tough opponent and I don’t believe people give him the credit he deserves. I had changed some stuff in my training that actually worked against me. For the next fight I will do what I always do. I went to the sauna three times every week and I thought it would help with my conditioning. Instead, I lost a lot of important vitamins so it made me tired earlier, but it’s something I won’t do again.
